global warming
A balanced and safe Earth is now a thing of the past. This old planet is continually being transformed into a rubbish deposit, which inevitably causes global warming.
To begin with, global warming is a direct consequence of air pollution, due to the fact that carbon dioxide is released by industries and means of transportation and it forms a layer very close to the Earth's surface (owing to the fact that it is heavier than air), which prevents heat to irradiate into the high atmosphere.
Therefore, the accumulation of this heavy gas allows radiation to pass through it, but impedes it to return to space. As a result, the temperatures starts rising all over the planet.
Furthermore, this is an extremely dangerous problem, because global warming also provoques climate change, which may lead to the melting of icebergs and rise of sea level, posing a risk for some places near the ocean, to disappear under the water.
As a result, the survival of ecosystems including bacteria, animals and plants may be threatened.
Finally, the quantity of potable water will also be reduced, which is probably the most destroying consequence of global warming, due to the fact that water is essential for the support of life. All this can be minimized if we control emissions of carbon dioxide, by lowering the use of fossile fuels and replacing it by alternative energy sources (for example eolic energy and solar energy).
To sum up, although our planet is already in a bad situation, it is possible to prevent more tragedies, if mankind try to face this serious problem.
